Mother:     It must be marvellous to work with animals.
Daughter:  Well here is your opportunity.
Emergency dog carers are needed by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. They need volunteers to offer emergency dog-walking or temporary foster homes for working hearing dogs in need. If a hearing dog recipient becomes temporarily too ill to exercise their dog themselves, they'd hope to call upon a local volunteer to look after their hearing dog for a short period until the recipient was well again. This would avoid the trauma of a temporary or even permanent separation and ensure the partnership could stay together.

Mayhew Volunteers are a vital part of The Mayhew Animal Home - without their help the Animal Home would not be able to function as it does. The hard work and commitment of volunteers assists paid staff in various areas around the Home. Volunteers are always required to help with manning stalls at fundraising events, driving the Mayhew vehicles to events and on rescue runs in the UK. From early next year monthly open days for potential volunteers to work more closely with animals will be held.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People need volunteer puppy socialisers to play a vital role in a hearing dog's early training; teaching basic obedience and manners and building confidence by introducing the pup to new people and experiences. Socialisers must be able to attend regular puppy classes so need to live about one hour's drive away from Saunderton in south Bucks.
